Wyckie and Bill McClure

Wyckie McClure became a docent at VMFA more than 30 years ago and has served in that capacity, and in many others, ever since. Even when a 2-year stint in Switzerland took her and her family to Europe, she remained deeply involved by helping to compile and edit information for her fellow docents on the African collection.

She served as President of the Council during the museum's expansion and is currently a member of the Foundation Board of Directors. Since retiring, Bill has turned his lifelong passion for photography into McClure Images, a company that tells the stories of national collegiate sports teams through photography, video and branding.

Wyckie and Bill have provided for the museum in their estate as an expression of their support for what VMFA means to them personally as well as a tribute to Richmond and Virginia.

"It's more than an art museum, it's a community," Bill says. "Our gift, then, is an investment in the museum's future and in the future of Richmond."

"Spend time here—get to know the staff and experience their passion," continued Wyckie. "Really come to know the role the museum plays in the state and city—otherwise it's just writing a check. Once you come to know the museum you will fall in love with it."
